A Doula is a trained and experienced birth assistant who provides emotional, physical and informational support to help you and your spouse or partner have your dream pregnancy and birth experience.  Our certified Birth Doula, Jennie Mills, will work alongside your healthcare team of nurses, midwives and doctors to provide a reassuring presence and help you navigate the birth process. She will help you prepare for your birth and provide suggestions on what to pack in your delivery bag, help clarify any birth preferences, and help develop your 'birth plan'. Jennie specializes in helping you remain calm, confident, and comfortable during labor. She will come to your home and help keep you comfortable with breathing techniques, massage, relaxation positions, heat and cold packs, and use of the bathtub or shower, she even has a TENs unit in her bag of goodies. After your baby is born, Jennie will meet with you during the first month to provide suggestions regarding feeding challenges, sleep issues, and overall adjustment. Her goal is to bring you the knowledge of all the different options for a safe and healthy birth and will gladly provide answers to your many questions to help get your family off to a great start. If you are interested in working with Jennie, please call or text her at 425-518-2337.

The ancient art of baby massage has been practiced by many cultures and is easy to learn ... and massaging baby will help you develop the loving touch you already possess! This class involves hands-on training in the positions, strokes and intents of baby massage. Infant massage benefits are both physiological and psychological for the baby and parents. It enables bonding between the parent and child, improves the baby’s muscle tone, digestive, circulatory and respiratory functions, increases stimulation to the nervous system, and encourages better sleeping patterns. Infant massage is suitable for all ages of babies starting as young as two weeks old, and it’s best to start massaging early. In a 5 week course, you will learn how to massage your baby and provide him or her with a full therapeutic body massage.  You can do one-on-one sessions at your home or a group baby massage party where one parent hosts a class for friends who also want to learn. Our certified Infant Massage Instructor, Jennie Mills, would love to hear from you! Please call or text her if you're interested 425-518-2337

The Richway Far-Infrared BioMat is an FDA approved medical device that uses amethyst and tourmaline crystals to produce infra-red heat waves and negative ions in a safe and natural way that help engage the body's natural healing mechanisms at the molecular level to administer deep soothing stimulation. The core of the BioMat technology is a combination of far infrared rays, negative ion and the conductive properties of amethyst channels. It provides lasting relief from muscle spasms, sprains and strains, joint pain associated with arthritis, minor muscle pain and more. Lying on the mat during a massage treatment or without a massage induces a blissful state of relaxation, reduces inflammation and muscle tension, boosts the immune system, increases circulation and tissue oxygen, and enhances serotonin. If you are interested in adding this therapy to your treatment, please let us know before your treatment. Or if you would like to experience it on it's own, please call or text us to discuss and schedule an appointment at 425-780-7208. Placenta Encapsulation is an additional service provided by Jennie. Whether you are a Doula client or just need this service, she will assist you through the process. Your placenta will be picked up from your place of birth, and returned in capsule form with 24-72 hours. Jennie's training was with Carrie Kenner and follows the same methods as her teaching. She follow a Traditional Chinese Medicine ‘recipe’ when encapsulating the placenta for the mother’s use (see below for details).  This method of preparation retains some of the nutrients and hormones present in the placenta at the time of birth – to help the new parent with their postpartum transition – and preserve the energetic qualities of the life-sustaining placenta. Jennie also follows OSHA guidelines for the safe handling and disposal of human tissue in all stages of the process.

The preparation involves two parts:  Part 1 –  a blessing of your placenta to give thanks for the work it has done and will continue to do, then prepare it for steaming, along with lemon, ginger and jalapeño.  It is steamed for 30 minutes.  Then it is sliced very thin and spread out on a drying sheet.  It is then baked in an oven at 170 degrees for 8-10 hours.   Part 2 – the dried strips are ground in an electric grinder.  The fine powder is then put into the gel caps, and the capsules are stored in a jar.
